Trunk Implant for the Control of Bagworms in Oil Palms
Bagworms (Metisa plana) are a significant defoliating pest in oil palm plantations, causing extensive damage to the leaves, which can result in considerable yield losses.
The pest's feeding activity weakens the palms, reducing their productivity and potentially leading to further issues if not adequately controlled.

A systemic crop input is encapsulated into a rod-like matrix tablet and inserted into a hole drilled in the trunk of the oil palm.
During the tree’s transpiration, the active is brought upwards to the leaves where bagworms feed, eradicating them.
Each application provides effective treatment for up to 60 days.
